Feature Update from Access DevCon

On April 16, in its session at Access DevCon 2026, the Microsoft Access team addressed a wide range of topics and provided an update on its current and planned work to an audience of more than 100 international developers. Most of their session was devoted to their active maintenance work and to new features for Access.

On the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the Zoom features (for May) and the removal of the 22” limit for forms and reports (for June) have been announced. The new version SysCmds were also shown and were released in the current versions of Access shortly after the conference.

More surprising were the three new features that software engineer Shane Groff is currently working on:

1. Cascading Combo and List Boxes

using properties instead of coding

At the DevCon, the feature was still experimental. It has since been officially announced on the M365 Roadmap for August.

2. Rounded Control Corners

The feature is still in the experimental phase. However, the Access team intends to release it in the near future. The same applies to the third new feature:

We'll be providing detailed coverage of the new features on AccessForever.org as soon as they're included in the Current Channel of Office, i.e., for production use. Until then, you can watch demos of the new features in this video summary:
