Access DevCon 2026

The 10th Access DevCon will take place on April 16-17 as an online-only event.

New Features

Microsoft's Access team has new things to show at this DevCon, as some of the long-awaited zooming features have been available in the public betas since March and are currently being debugged and further enhanced.

Another long-requested feature currently being tested in the betas are new SysCmds that provide version information. In addition, the Access team will show some features that are still experimental. So there's a lot happening on the manufacturer's side.

Tools, AI, training

The same applies to third-party tool vendors. Several will be showing their new tools for Access at this DevCon.

Of course, there will be the inevitable and important AI session, as well as classic knowledge-sharing sessions. You can find the full conference program on the DevCon agenda page.

Access, our jobs and events like this

It is a positive sign for Access that Microsoft is slowly but surely releasing new features and providing ongoing maintenance, that third parties continue to deliver missing tools and that attendance at DevCon isn't dropping significantly. Today, we already have 100 registrations.

The elephant in the room, however, is AI. On the one hand, there's the absence of Copilot in Access; on the other – and far more significant – there's the prospect of AI eliminating a large percentage of the work and jobs in the IT sector (I will share examples from my Access practice in my DevCon session). That makes it all the more important to take advantage of every opportunity or, as some might say, event ;-) to stay up to date on the latest developments and expand your skills.

Hey Karl I noticed this morning I am getting 403 Forbidden error trying to open https://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/ - can you confirm if you see the same thing, is there something that has changed there? I was able to access the forums yesterday afternoon.

It's great to see that Access is still very much alive, with both Microsoft and third-party vendors pushing out new features and tools, especially around highly requested items like zooming and better version tracking. Events like DevCon are a really good sign for the ecosystem, as they keep momentum going and people connected.
