In this overview article, we inform you about (mostly minor) bugs, changes and new features for Access in July and August.
1. Bug: Export Objects to HTML Wizard with Formatting
When exporting objects to HTML using the Export data with formatting and layout wizard option, all data is encoded and results in some scrambled data output.
This was first noticed with version 2506 and affects all current and insider channels.
The issues were reported to the Access team on 19 Aug and the fix was released to the Beta Channel on 2 Sept with version 2509 19230.20002 with the data no longer encoded.
Other channels will receive the fix soon.
For more details, see Colin's article: Export Objects to HTML Encoding Issues

Union subqueries not showing field names when switching from Monaco to Design view reported on 16 Aug. Fixed on 26 Aug. For details, see Fixed Issue xxvii) in Colin's article: Monaco SQL Editor
Assertion Failed error message on calls to VBScript.RegExp Reported on 30 Aug. See Mike Wolfe's NoLongerSet article Fixed in Version 2508 Build 19127.20192 released on 3 Sept.
For details, see Colin's article: Access Bug Summary: July/Aug 2025
3. Feature: Monaco Improvements
Two significant improvements to the Monaco SQL editor were released to the Current Channel with version 2506 on 1 July:
a) Partial execution of query SQL - allows users to highlight part of a query and then press a new dropdown Run Selected to see the results for the highlighted SQL only.
b) Expanded formatting - this automatically expands and autoformats SQL.
Where 'compact' SQL is pasted into the Monaco window, it can be expanded using the Ctrl+K keyboard shortcut
For details of both features, see Colin's article: Monaco SQL Editor Improvements
A third major improvement, speedy loading, reached the Beta channel with version 2507 and to the Current channel for some users with version 2508. This preloads the Monaco windows in the background during idle time and results in almost instantaneous loading time.
For details, see Colin's article: How Speedy Loading Works in the Monaco SQL Editor
4. Change: Salesforce ODBC Driver will be Removed in Oct 2025
On 13 Aug, the product manager announced in the Access team blog that the Salesforce ODBC driver would no longer be supplied with Access from Oct 2025.
Although comparatively little used, companies that require this will need to purchase a replacement driver. For details of its use, see the Salesforce driver documentation.
5. Change: Forum Closures
During the same week in July, two long-established forums were closed permanently:
a) UtterAccess forum closed suddenly on Mon 14 July. The large archive of knowledge is no longer accessible other than via a sample of archived pages at the Wayback Machine
b) Microsoft Answers was closed for new posts /answers on Wed 16 July. Microsoft transferred many of the existing Answers posts to Q&A. However, all contributor names were anonymized for data protection reasons (according to MS). Unfortunately, Q&A is cluttered and difficult to use due to the unsuitable tag system, as mentioned in our article on current discussion platforms for Access.
